| Abstract: | We consider the problem of state estimation for nonlinear time-varying systems whose nonlinearities satisfy an incremental quadratic inequaiity. These observer results unifies earlier results in the literature; and extend it to some additional classes of nonlinearities. Observers are presented which guarantee that the state estimation error exponentially converges to zero. Observer design involves soIving linear matrix inequalities for the observer gain matrices. Results are illustrated by application to a simple model of an underwater |
